History Of Kubota
We have delved into the depths of the internet to find out the interesting history of Kubota.
In 1890 Kubota was established as a foundry. They started production of castings for weighting equipment and daily commodities. In 1893 this then transitioned to production of cast iron pipes for water supply. The Amagasaki Plant was opened in 1917 and relocated manufacturing.
In 1922 they started production of oil-based engines for agro-industrial purposes, settanki (fuel economizer: energy-saving equipment utilizing waste gas), and heat-resistant cast iron. Which lead to The Ministry of Commerce and Industry selecting the Kubota Oil Engine as an “Excellent Domestic Product” in 1930.
In 1947 they developed the cultivator and initiated production and sales. In 1953 they changed corporate name from K.K. Kubota Tekko-jo to Kubota Tekko K.K. Established Kubota Kenki K.K. and entered the construction equipment industry. They also began production of power shovels and other construction equipment as well as marine deck machineries.
1955 saw them launch the slogan “From country building to rice making”. 1957 saw Kubota take a different path into the arena of housing-related materials, they started production of “Colorbest” housing material.
In 1960 they developed and commercialized Japanese farm tractors. Which lead to them making a full-scale entry into the environmental improvement business. They also started production of paddy field tractors.
In 1969 they launched a new corporate slogan, “Create an environment affluent to human beings”. They also started production of combines and completed an integrated system for agricultural mechanization. Which lead to them becoming established Kubota Tractor Corporation in the US to fully enter the US tractor market.
1986 saw them start production of electronic circuit boards, hard discs, and radio-controlled lawnmowers. 1990, Kubota celebrated their 100th year in business, they altered their corporate name to Kubota Corporation.
In 1992 they launched another new slogan “Let’s make our habitat more beautiful”. And they also initiated the research and development of incineration plants with high-efficiency waste-generated power facility.
In 2005 the total production exceeded 3 million units for their tractors. In 2008 they started the “Kubota E-Project” social contribution activities. 2009 saw Kubota complete the first tractor production plant for a Japanese company in Thailand. (Siam Kubota Tractor Co.,Ltd.)
In 2010 Kubota were certified as an “Eco-First Company” by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment. They also started production of combine harvesters in Thailand (SIAM KUBOTA Corporation).
In 2014 Kubota established an upland farming tractor manufacturing company in France (Kubota Farm Machinery Europe S.A.S.) and in 2015 it saw them launch high traction multi-purpose tractors on the Indian market.
To this day Kubota are still selling equipment worldwide.
